It all starts with a spark, light and feeling, a sensation, and suddenly the world is of a different shade, it’s calmer, everything feels more alive, hours pass like seconds, and smiles come from within… The feeling is surreal, it hits you once, and life is never the same for the best reasons. I have felt this many times in my life 7 times to be precise, till now, and probably a lot more in the future but for different reasons, to be exact, starting from 1st grade till my current workplace. We don’t choose this magic; the magic comes to us. It is like trying to call a butterfly or a bird. We just put our hands forward, and the bird or butterfly decides whether it wants to trust us. Surprisingly the same thing happened with my aunt’s cat for whatever reason.

I have always felt scared of saying how I felt to these magicians, as I might lose someone close to me. A friend, acquaintance or somebody else, the labels we put don’t matter. They are crushes because, at times, they make you feel like you are crushed by the weight of indecision; they feel like the most perfect person you have ever met; they are like free birds you don’t want to capture or hurt with your selfishness. However, when carbon is crushed to its utmost limit, it becomes a Diamond… Fun fact we are elementally made up of a lot of carbon, hence we inhale oxygen and exhale carbon dioxide. It means we symbolically or quite literally share the same characteristics. I don’t know if this is a crush, nothing much, something more, or just a part of the flow.

I will be honest, I don’t know if this person will ever know about my feelings. The truth is it isn’t that important. Here is an interesting analogy the Moon just reflects the light of the Sun; it doesn’t steal it, it doesn’t claim ownership over it, it just mirrors a beautiful cosmic entity and shares its beauty with the world. That is what it means to truly appreciate something; we care about giving the best in the world. If the stars align, they shall meet. If not, They will still be remembered as the shining stars regardless of anything else. My favourite song from work is “Rewrite the Stars” by Zac Efron and Zendaya because I wish to change the stars to my liking someday. I am imperfect, like many things in this world, and as much as I want to change who I am to impress this person or make this person like me, it will be an injustice to my heart who has to support this romantic in me for life.

Till the next phase starts, whether this person’s role has changed or not changed in my life. I will try to mimic the freedom of the moon, reflecting the light, happiness and joy this person has helped me feel with the world. You may or may not be reading this in the future ‘oh, a mysterious person from the ancient land.’ Know this; however, you are unique; you have something amazing to share with the world, Do not compromise your light for anyone; your smile can bring happiness to the coldest of hearts, so never suppress it. I won’t say more as I have to keep the mystery alive.
